Chapter 112. Sylin’s Tactical Defense
Eryndor’s POV
Vaela might have died just then, if Sylin hadn’t reacted in an instant—summoning her snake with barely a thought. The serpent materialized at her side and shot forward like a living whip, its scales flashing in the dim light. It wrapped itself around Vaela’s waist, yanked her back, and pulled her out of the path of the spider’s deadly claws.
Even so, one razor-sharp talon still slashed across Vaela’s ribcage, tearing through fabric and skin. The wound was deep, the bleeding heavy, but not instantly fatal. Vaela gasped, her hand darting to clasp the side of her body as she stumbled.
“Ugh. Thanks for the save,” she muttered through gritted teeth, every breath a stab of pain.
