Chapter 173. Daring Escape
Third-Person POV
The devastating blast of Velvet’s magical fist tore through the fused she-wolf, and in a brilliant flash it split her back into her original two forms. Chloe and Margaret crashed to the ground, utterly overwhelmed by the strange and powerful Velvet—still an enigma to everyone present.
Velvet landed beside Nora and threw back her head in laughter. “Hahaha, haha, hahaha! Now that was fun! Those she-wolves were no joke—too bad they happened to be up against me.”
“Yeah,” Nora replied with a wry smile, brushing grit from her shoulder, “you’re pretty much a beast yourself.”
Velvet turned to Nora, but something about her softened—her gaze carried the gentle affection a mother might show a child. With surprising tenderness, she withdrew a cloth from her pocket and dabbed at the cut on Nora’s cheek. Her voice dropped so low it sounded like someone else entirely.
“You really shouldn’t try to bite off more than you can chew, Henry.”
