Chapter 28. Reconnaissance Mission
Celeste’s POV
After hearing everything Eryndor had endured, I couldn’t stop the tears from falling. I had thought my own hardships were unbearable, but listening to his story made me realize that others—people on the other side of the world—had been wronged just as cruelly, if not more so. Now he was trapped, forced to cooperate with the very creatures he loathed most, simply to stay alive.
“I’m so sorry all of that happened to you,” I choked out, dabbing at my eyes. “Especially after you rejected your mate. You’re just like us rejects.” I wiped away another tear.
“Wait,” Eryndor said softly, his brows knitting together in concern.
“How tragic,” Sia murmured from beside me. “I never imagined I’d live to see a man turn down a woman.”
