Chapter 33. The Goddess’s Vertigo
Leon’s POV
I stared at the woman they called The Goddess. By her frail build, she hardly looked like someone to fear. Compared to her, Nyra—my companion—was in a whole different league of strength. I peeled away from Nyra and paced carefully through the village, never breaking my gaze from the figure everyone reverently called The Goddess.
Despite her delicate frame, something about her unsettled me. I couldn’t put my finger on it—there was an odd aura to her presence.
“You venture into my village unannounced,” she said, her voice measured but cold, “you assault my sisters, and now you can’t even introduce yourself with any courtesy.”
I drew a deep breath and held her gaze. “I’m pretty sure you already know who I am,” I said, “but let’s pretend you don’t. My name is Leon.
