“I’m sorry to say that, back then my goals didn’t include being a Radiant Circle member,” I admitted, looking each guard in the eye as I spoke. “If I had joined the Radiant Circle, I would have lost the freedom to explore the world. I couldn’t have gone anywhere if I’d been stuck here. As a hunter, I despised the old traditions of the Sun Order. Radiant Circle members aren’t allowed to leave for more than a few days without being summoned back. That would have been torture for someone like me, who lives to adventure.”
The guards shifted uncomfortably and dropped their gazes to the ground. I could tell they were thinking, Who’s training us these days, anyway?
