Chapter 41. Defraud and Compliment
The despair Victoria felt down within had subsided. It was reinstated by something she couldn’t explain for Mr. Matthews’ assertion; it made her heart quiver. She blushed, yet she made sure she couldn’t show him what she felt. On the other hand, Madelyn had excused herself and given Victoria and Syd the time to converse inside the office. At the same time, she went out for a few minutes.
“You know what, I adored how you brought your character into the game. It was too strong, which made me cherish you the most,” said Mr. Matthews and smiled. He stood in front of Victoria, placed his hands inside his pocket, and wanted to be cool in her eyes.
“You also like the face of the youth. As I had seen how you played, you are a team player, resilient, and a quality Ellumina needed,” Mr. Matthews added and showered with compliments thrown on Victoria, so her decisions were reversed. He knew how anyone, including him, would easily defraud a woman like her.
