“Honey, can we talk for a moment?” my mother asked one day. 

At that time I had just accompanied her around the hospital, to see where in the hospital that needed additional furniture. 

We returned to her room and my mother was immediately busy checking documents on her laptop, while I sat on the sofa and opened my iPad and read some health articles to add references to do my assignment. 

“Yes, Mom, what’s wrong?” 

I felt a little surprised because it was unusual for her to speak so formally to me. 

My mother came out from behind the desk and sat beside me on the sofa. She looked relaxed but also serious. 

“Do you still remember Dr. Arez Wenwright?” my mother asked. “The neurosurgeon who moved to Hong Kong two years ago?”
