I don’t know what was on my mother’s mind. She came to Leora and begged her to talk to me to prevent me from seeing the doctor who was going to abort Eva? 

She humiliated me! 

I don’t know what Leora thought of me. I already felt embarrassed and inferior enough because of who Leora was now and how she rejected my request outright. 

I wasn’t hurt because Leora rejected my request, but I was extremely embarrassed because I knew that what I asked her was something impossible and very immoral. 

But I was forced. 

It was impossible for Eva to continue her pregnancy. She was not ready, both physically and mentally. Moreover, there was no one I could hold accountable.
