Chapter 31. Surveillance

After Luc had finished feeding Giovanna the soup and put the bowl on the table. They heard a discreet knock on the door. He went to answer it. It was the contract. He tipped the boy who brought it and opened the brown envelope. He took a quick look and found the clause he had added and took it to Giovanna to sign. He took out a pen and handed them both to her.

Giovanna looked at him suspiciously and read the document. There were all the rules he had told her about, but there was one he hadn't mentioned, and she stared at him intrigued.

"This contract is saying that our marriage and our duties can be extended if I so wish? Do I understand you correctly?"

"That's right."

Giovanna remained silent, looking at him amused, and Luc liked seeing her like that.

"You mean I can force you to stay with me?"

Luc stared at her in surprise.

"I'd love to be forced to stay with you."

"But that
