Chapter 34. For a Minute

Caio was crying loudly and Giovanna thought it was just a bad dream. But the knocks on the door became deafening, and she woke up startled. She ran and opened the door. Caio was crying and Luc was staring at her angrily. She bent down to hug her son.

"What happened, my son?"

"I thought you were sick in there, Mom! Why didn't you sleep in your room?"

Giovanna stood up and Caio watched her as she wiped her tears with the back of her hand.

"What's wrong, Mom?"

"My room is here now."

"No, Mom! You're sad again. What happened?"

"I'm the same as always. You made a mistake. And so am I." Giovanna said and held Luc's angry gaze.

"Can I sleep with you tonight, Mom?"

"No, Caio." Luc said before Giovanna could speak. "Go to your room and the nanny will help you shower and change."

"I can do that." Giovanna said
