Chapter 37. Conflicting Feelings
Caio woke up and was happy to see his mother there. Giovanna distracted herself by bathing and changing him. He talked all the time about his routine. She loved listening to him, and each sentence made her even more certain that the best thing to do was to leave without him.
There he had security, good schools and a father who loved him. Things she couldn't offer him. Giovanna wanted that morning, the last they would spend together, to serve as a good memory of her for him to keep. She went into the kitchen with him and together, watching him enjoy himself, they prepared a sandwich and chocolate milk, which he liked very much.
Then she took him into the garden and he ran for his bike. She didn't know he had one, and it wasn't the only thing he had. There was a small motorcycle too, in the garage from where he got the bike.
