Chapter 50. Plans

Giovanna was on the swing next to Caio. They fought over who could swing higher, but Giovanna always let him go beyond her. They smiled complicitly at each other.

Luc was reading a book, sitting on a bench facing them, and seemed very involved in his reading.

Theo and Freya stared at them from the balcony of the dance room that Giovanna had renovated to give lessons to other women. Neither of them seemed happy about the situation.

"How long is it going to be like this?" Freya asked Theo, looking at Giovanna angrily.

"Do you think it's bad because she's forbidden Luc to lie with you? Or because he doesn't pay any attention to you anymore?"

"He was going to marry me."
