Chapter 7. John
As the nurse left, Jordan and Brendon sat down and looked at each other. Now that Brendon was there, he didn't know how to begin. He didn't know what to say and he didn't even know if it was fair to remember that gentleman from his old school, because he didn't know what memories he would evoke with his questions.
"Are you journalists?" Mr. Miles asked without showing any concern.
The nurse returned with their coffees and left them alone.
"We're not journalists." Brendon replied seriously. "I... came here to ask you a question."
"Then have your coffee and do it. There's no need to be intimidated."
Brendon sipped his coffee and looked at Jordan for support, but his friend seemed bothered by something.
"We went to a boarding school where you were principal a few years ago."
"Forty years ago." Mr. Miles said, sipping his coffee quietly, unperturbed.
