Chapter 13. An Unexpected Vision

Brendon realized that he had been thinking for a long time and could already see a smile of victory blossoming on the young woman's inviting lips.

"You didn't want me as your enemy, miss. You're putting ideas into my head. And that, I can assure you, will not be good for you. I've never been good and I don't intend to change that."

The young woman let her arms fall around her body, undoing her air of debauchery and defiance.

"You must be boring. As well as a crown, flabby and weak."

"Crown? I'm only 34 years old, you witch!"

"I would never have realized you weren't Mr. Miles' twin brother if you hadn't told me your age." She said spitefully and turned to Mr. Miles. "I think I'll be going now, I still have to work today. I'll be back later." She said and bent down to kiss Mr. Miles on the forehead and as she was walking away, he took her by the arm.
