Chapter 44. The Misinterpreted Invitation
Brendon never went anywhere with Venice again and Olav discovered that there was nothing, no document, no record to indicate that Venice existed.
He tried to find people who could give him a clue as to who she was, but no one had ever seen the woman and finally, Olav advised Brendon to ask Venice herself where she came from, but for that Brendon would have to care enough to endure her presence and have the patience to listen to her shrill, irritating voice, things he was in no mood to do.
And so, Brendon kept putting it off and so that she wouldn't leave before he found out who she was, he signed a three-month contract. She started going to work in more sophisticated clothes and Brendon wondered where she was getting the money for so much?
Once, he surprised her wearing a bracelet with a pendant in the shape of a tree with a moon behind it, completely gray, and he looked at her curiously.
But she hid the bracelet and left without explanation.
