He stared at her as if he wanted to kill her.

"It's not relevant. You won't be able to see her for five years."

"Speaking of the five years..." Giovanna gestured with her hand for him to continue.

"It's simple. You'll be married to me for five years and after that you'll receive your inheritance."

Giovanna stared at him and could have sworn she tried hard not to laugh, but she couldn't. She let out a laugh. She let out a laugh that she hadn't heard for a long time, maybe years.

Luc stared at her with icy eyes, but he liked seeing her smile. He missed that woman much more than he wanted to admit. And he wouldn't admit it. He was someone else now. He had to focus on his responsibilities.

"Oh, Luc! I'd forgotten how much you liked making jokes." She said, calming down and wiping away her tears. The smile remained on her lips. "There are habits that never change.
