Giovanna saw that he turned red and thanked the gods that there was no way of disguising this emotion.

"It doesn't mean anything. My true lineage comes from Anchan. Haven't you ever wondered why he comes here so infrequently?"

"That's not relevant." Giovanna said, gladly throwing his words in his face. "I need to know how things are going to be done, then. I refuse to be deprived of my parents' inheritance. It's a matter of honor. I'll marry you. You go back to your land and in five years' time you'll give me back my inheritance. Until then, I'll stay with my godfather and get a job. If I only have to stay married to you for five years, I think we can get divorced for lack of consummation of the marriage."

"I wish it were that easy. But do you really think your parents didn't think of every little detail? Together with my family, they came up with a plan full of details."
