I couldn't believe it, I had to replay my mom's confession again for it to sink in. The hardest part was hiding my emotions by keeping a blank face. "Why?" I asked, raising an eyebrow nonchalantly, feigning calm, even though what I wanted to do was call her a blood murderer.
"Layton, can you please excuse us?" she asked sweetly. I watched as the two kissed briefly, their display of their love testing my control. What I wanted was to cut their lips and burn them alive for making a fool out of my father, but I forced my boiling feelings inside.
After Layton walked out, Seraphina, or the monster that was supposed to be my mother, walked closer. "Daphne got everything I wanted," she began. "When we fled our home with your grandmother, I was hoping to be mated to one of the alpha kings."
