The space outside the old three-storey house smelt like blood and burnt flesh, making my wolf's fur stand on my neck. What if we were late? What if Delaney was already gone and the smell of blood was hers? All these questions rushed into my mind as we ran through the woods, surrounding the house and everyone outside the compound.
My wolf frantically looked around as my warriors attacked the rogues, with the specific instruction not to hurt Ronan. There were so many of them, the rogues were not a match; they had no chance at survival. Then I finally spotted her inside a circle of fire, her wide, teary eyes looking straight at me. "You came!" That voice, loud and not via the mind link, sent vibrations down my spine. She was there, alive, crying, looking broken but alive and most of all relieved to see me.
