I placed my hands on my belly, mouth open as my widening eyes took in the crimson fluid flowing on my fingers, running down my wrists. My heart stopped beating momentarily, with a numbness I couldn't explain taking over, as I turned my gaze to my mom's retracting claws, with blood dripping on the ground, beside a plastic container with a black liquid. My mind was in a haze, taking in the situation slower than I would have loved.
"What have you done?" Someone shouted, but I didn't know who it was, it was like my brain's cognition was being selective at that moment. I could feel hands holding me, helping me lay down on the ground, but my gaze didn't falter from my mother.
"Seize her!" Another instructed, and several men responded by knocking my mother off her feet, slamming her onto the ground, face first.
