"What is it going to be, Delaney, your life or his?" My mother sneered, clenching her arms into fists as she looked at me, then at Ronan's wolf. I ignored her and took another step forward, this time not flinching when the big black wolf let out a low growl.
"I know you are in there somewhere," I whispered, looking into the wolf's eyes.
My mother laughed, the sound making me press my teeth together. "Which part of 'I am controlling him' do you not understand?"
I paid her no mind, my gaze locked on Ronan's beast, searching for even the faintest flicker of the man I loved behind the darkness. "You are stronger than her," I praised. "I know you are."
He froze, his snarl faltering for a bit, and I could have sworn I saw a slight splash of gold in his eyes before the black in them
