I could barely close my eyes without my father's harsh words replaying in my mind. I had tried every sleeping position, but my mind, although saturated, wouldn't let me rest. My wolf was restless, demanding to go back to our mates. Maybe stepping out on the balcony for some fresh air would help. I didn't bother picking up a robe as the cold air hit me, raising goosebumps on my skin.
The sound from crickets and other small animals acted like a distraction. I looked around, and lo and behold, there were two men standing right below my balcony. Obviously guards, either situated there by my father to ensure I didn't jump over the balcony again or by Elias since he wasn't around. Either way, they were there to ensure I stayed indoors, and just like that, I decided to go back inside.
As I was sitting on the bed, a light knock sounded on my door
