Chapter 45
The bar stools were a little taller than their usual rendezvous. Smith had picked the new bar himself. It was more for the new environment and maybe a new cocktail than the actual security of it. Frankly, he didn’t think anyone would be interested in what a pair of cops were discussing, but then it was better safe than sorry, so he decided a change of scenery would be best for both of them.
A few minutes past 8 o’clock, Smith and Teddy drove in Teddy’s Range Rover a good distance away from work, and Smith picked the bar that had just opened a few weeks ago. The customer care was still good since they were eager to impress, and the waitresses were still nice and smiled quite a lot.
The truth was that Smith had seen a lot of bars open up in Denver. Most of the time, they ran it with a smile and nice words, ‘Thank yous’, ‘come tomorrow’, and all of what they believed made people come back the next day. The truth was that the best bars were not quite “nice” places. They were
