Chapter 44
The sun was scorching hot for late August. Normally, winter should have been getting ready to take over, covering the whole place with snow and bringing the Christmas spirit along with it. However, all they had for days in Denver was sunshine, unexpected rain, and sometimes an intense heatwave at night.
Smith was not too good with the whole climate change thing, but as he stood there, he was sure the ozone layer—at least that’s what he remembered his lecturer calling it in high school—was really messed up, and the heat was enough to scorch their very souls.
To the side was Teddy, dressed in a two-piece suit, wearing a clean white bowtie which, in Smith’s opinion, just made him look odd. Teddy had never been one to conform anyways, especially when he didn’t quite agree with the whole concept of it.
