Chapter 5
“No, ‘that’s it’ means I am done with this freaking job, and it’s time to call it quits. How about a small drive around the neighborhood? I’ve seen some really nice-looking pieces of—”
Smith chuckled out loud and then opened the car to let himself out, too. It felt good to step on the sand, although it was wet and the rain was quickly forming puddles on it. But it was earth, anyway, and solid enough for him. The air was wide enough, and he felt free; gone was that feeling of being a bird kept in a small wire cage.
“I must confess, it’s not so good in there,” he agreed.
“Like I don’t know. Try being this big and fitting into the driver’s seat of this box; it had my balls smashed into my thighs, and I couldn’t even move my arms. I love the van, it’s just too fancy,” Teddy said and took another drag of his cigarette, closed his eyes for a few seconds, and made the smoke exit through his nose, forming a pretty swirl in the cold air.
