Chapter 10. Burden of Bloodlines

Caius’s POV

I pulled up to my two-story house in the middle of a huge forest. Unlike most packs, the Night Shade pack’s house was only used for events, and I lived in a separate house.

When I was 14 years old, the former Alpha took my family in. Wild Rogues attacked the Night Shade pack after three years. We lost a few people, like our Beta, our Alpha, and the bloodline of the Alpha.

It left a group of 1,000 animals without a leader. We had to choose a new Alpha or accept the Red Moon’s offer to give up our ways and join them as servants to the royal pack. Even though I was only seventeen, I was seen as a leader because I was the oldest and had Alpha blood.

I became the youngest Alpha and chose my brother Christopher to be my Beta. Chris was the only one in the pack I could trust, and he was also one of the few who knew all my secrets.
