Chapter 14. Magic

Caius’s POV

I was figuring out how the grounds were laid out when I felt something strange near the gardens. I didn’t think I’d find anything interesting out here, but I wanted to know everything there was to know about their pack grounds. I felt it when I got to the back of the flower beds surrounded by 10-foot hedges.

I knew there was a lot of magic going on because I could feel it, but I didn’t know how that was possible. As I turned the corner, I didn’t want to turn around and run. I knew it was a spell that would make anyone who looked at it want to run away.

I focused on the open field by using my wolf eyes. At first, I could only see a few grass blades that were out of place. As I got closer, I could see the creases in the air. It felt like a hot day in the summer or the air above a fire. All over the field, there were small waves of nothing. I knew a mirage spell was in play.
