Chapter 16. Last Hurrah

Elise’s POV

I could tell Finn was really angry about what had just happened. He tried to show Caius who was the boss, but Caius was too weak to stand up to him. On the other hand, I didn’t feel his waves of submission at all. I could feel how powerful he was, but I didn’t feel like I had to bow down to him.

In fact, it made me want to stand up to him even more. Althea really wanted to show him that she was stronger than him. I didn’t know if it was good or bad, but I liked the way it felt. My body felt full of confidence, and then it seemed like what I felt came out of my pores.

“We’re going to the lake, for sure. Get Sia and meet us in the gardens.” He said, “I’m kissing your cheek,” and then he ran out the door.
