Carlos went off to work the next day, and while he managed to maintain his focus, his productivity was not at its highest level because his breaks were consumed by thoughts of what had happened the night before and where that could’ve led if he had his way.
He was in a serious debate with himself. A part of him was of the opinion that this whole thing was a ploy and that she was a master at it. It warned him that if he were to fall for the deception of a woman one more time, he was likely to be cursed and would have to stay far away from females if he didn’t want his downfall to be history-making.
Another part of him, the part that ought to have died under weeks of torture, told him that there was nothing but an uncontrollable honesty in what was happening with Fiona. But he had to focus, and he had to work, so no matter how hard it was, he shoved the thoughts to the back of his mind.
