Chapter 111. I’m Sorry
Carlos went to see Fiona the next day after she was fully awake. She did not seem pleased to see him, which did make a lot of sense.
“How are you doing?” he asked.
“I don’t think you actually care,” she replied.
She was reading the book that he had given her—the one she believed held the secrets to the current existence of the Del Rosa family and so much more. The book that she had searched for since she was a teenager, the one that made her eyes light up and her talking speed increase. The one that his mother had apparently owned and had given to Ashley before it made its way into Carlos’s own hands. The one that he had given to Fiona. He took a deep breath and leaned against her nightstand. She shifted a bit on the bed so that she was farther away from him.
He chuckled mirthlessly. “What do you think you’re doing?” he said, then shook his head. “Actually, no, let’s start here.” He turned to face the bed. “What the fuck do you think you were doing stabbing
