Chapter 213. Breakdown

Lo had tried to hide her anxiety about the decision from Petra. As they marched out of the building where they had a meeting she locked eyes with the guy who had stood in front of her. He had stared intently as if trying to read her and she found herself squirming.

Feeling ashamed that she had had such a breakdown in front of such dangerous people, luckily no one saw her. He held her gaze steadily for a few seconds and then a small smile sprouted across his face. She averted her gaze immediately and ran off after Petra’s long stride.

They got into Petra’s SUV and the sound of her training slamming the door made Lo sit up straight. The woman stayed unmoving for a few seconds, a few tense seconds that made Lo worry for what was to come next.

She’d already began to exhale silently when it appeared as though Petra would simply put the car in ignition and drive off but just as she was relaxing at the idea Petra slammed her fists into the steering wheel three times, bl
