Chapter 224. He’d Played the Mad Man Long Enough That It Had Come True

He turned and walked off towards the darkness, out of the reach of the poor lightbulb, but he stopped before he was fully out of sight. “What was her name again?” he asked no one in particular, “The bite-sized bitch that always thought too highly of herself.”

“Dahlia,” one of his bruisers suggested. And Carlos’s ears pricked.

“Ah, yes, Dahlia. She’s alive.” That got Carlos’s emotions so heightened that he didn’t even care to think about how much his facial expressions exposed. “I’ve done you the kindness of leaving her location,” one of his men lifted up a phone with a map on the screen. “The rest is up to you. If you can get out of here and get her in time, then lucky you.”

They left the phone on the floor a few feet away from him.

Carlos stared at the phone. He had been struggling for a few minutes, screaming his lungs out as though that would help the situation somehow. It didn’t. Every second was torture even though he could hardly feel the pain anymore.<
