Chapter 12. Birthday Gift

Savannah’s POV

ONE WEEK LATER

“Happy birthday, Savannah!!!”

I wake up to the loud singing voices of Lexy and Juju. This is a tradition that we’ve been doing ever since we were kids. Every birthday morning, they’ll come over with cupcakes and wake me up with their obnoxious karaoke.

“Okay, okay, I’m up!” I say pushing the duvet cover away.

Lexy is dressed in a sparkly gold dress and she’s got a mini trumpet in her mouth. Meanwhile, Juju has a crazy birthday hat on, a bedazzled karaoke mic, and he’s wearing a matching gold suit. In both their hands are a dozen red velvet cupcakes with candles on top.

Yes! My favorite!

“Make a wish!” Lexy beams.

I close my eyes and smile, thinking about my wish. Once I’m done, I open my eyes and blow the candles out. Juju and Lexy cheer and clap in response, proceeding to continue their singing serenade.

“There she is! Welcome to adulthood, birthday girl!” Juju chimes into the mic.
