Chapter 16

Emma’s POV

The doctor made it clear to me that I still needed to take care of my health and that for a while I will be using crutches, and then Dora’s parents went to fill out the release form.

I was dressed by one of the nurses and asked to wait for the wheelchair to be brought in, and during all this period, Brian never left the room.

As soon as I was dressed, he began to stare at me, and it was in a strange way. Could it be that he was suspicious about me? Could he still be wondering why Michael came to see me?

The only nurse in the room left, leaving both of us alone. 

I had to know what he was thinking,  and without delay, I asked him. “What’s wrong? You have been staring at me. Did I do something wrong?”

“No matter how I think about it, I still don’t know how you suddenly changed overnight,” he said.
