Chapter 17

Emma’s POV

I limped into the study, hoping to see Brian there, but he was nowhere to be found. I went out of the study only to hear someone’s voice on the balcony.

Could it be Brian? I thought as I went there, hoping it would be him.

I got to the balcony and saw him there, and he was on the phone.

I noticed that something was wrong because of the expression he had on his face.

I was about to call out to him when I saw someone upstairs, holding a glass vase, and I was sure that he was going to drop it on Brian.

Quickly I ran toward him, putting pressure on my injured feet. Though it hurts, but Brian’s safety is more important.

Immediately I shoved him out of harm’s way, the glass vase fell and shattered into pieces.

I laid on the floor with Brian holding unto me. We were like that for a while, even after the vase had been broken. 

I stared at him and saw him staring back at me. It was the pain
