Chapter 23

Ray frantically gathered his things and rushed after Azalea, who had stormed out of the room.

“Boss, I don't think Miss Clair is ready for this. How are you going to make her get married? I'm sure she'll give us trouble along the way,” Ray said, his voice shaking with nervousness after Azalea told him she was going to meet Asher's son that day.

Azalea stopped abruptly, causing Ray to bump into her. She spun around, her eyes flashing with anger. “I can't give her the company if she isn't married, and you know it better than anyone how much I want to retire from this life as an office woman.” Azalea's words came out sounding slightly selfish, but deep down, she felt trapped in her job and longed for freedom. “Clair has to agree, or I won't be lenient enough to let it go this time.” Azalea spoke firmly, not wanting to let anyone or anything stand in the way of her dreams.

“What would you do?” Ray asked, his worry growing.

“I'll file a lawsuit if I have to,” she replied
