Chapter 27
Clair peeked inside the office door and surveyed the professor's office. In the corner of the brightly lit room sat a man with silvery hair and a wrinkled face. He wore glasses perched on the edge of his nose, almost slipping off. Sporting a serious expression, he clutched a file in his shaky hands, reading it intently. Clair's stomach twisted into knots, and she nervously bit her lip before taking a deep breath. She had always despised this professor, which had resulted in her failing his subject. However, her dilemma was that she couldn't pass the semester unless he allowed her to retake the exam or offered an opportunity to earn extra points in some way.
As she tapped her fingers on the door, lost in thought, Clair failed to realize that the professor had already noticed her and was observing her from above his glasses.
