Azalea's scalded red hand throbbed with searing pain, causing her to squeeze it tightly around her wrist. Trembling, she brought her quivering hand to her lips and blew on it in a feeble attempt to soothe the agony. The sharp sting weakened her heart, sapping her strength and leaving her feeling utterly helpless.
With a resounding "click," the door to the office swung open, and Ray rushed in, his face etched with deep concern. "Boss?! Are you okay? I heard you scream through the phone and then you were not picking up.," he rambled nonstop with a frow laced between his brows, his gaze fixated on Azalea. Her face contorted in a grimace of pain, her eyes glistening with delicate tears. Ray's eyes dropped to her hand, and he couldn't help but notice the peculiar, reddened texture. "Oh God! How did this happen?" He swiftly approached her side, his expression crumbling under the weight of worry, but Azalea met his gaze blankly for a moment.
