Chapter 12. Cruel Man
“Because I needed to test you, Lola.” With coldness, he carried on the unconscious Lottie on his shoulder and touched Giorgione’s body with his boot to make sure he was alive. “Come Lola, let’s go back home.”
He acted as if nothing happened. As if he didn’t just make her massacre all those people, as if there’s no bullet in her shoulder, as if he didn’t risk the life of his niece! He was unbelievable! He was the worst! The last of strength in Lola’s body faded away with anger and she fainted, bleeding as hell. Lola’s vision blurred as her anger gave way to overwhelming pain and exhaustion. The betrayal, the manipulation, and the physical injuries had taken their toll on her. The world around her faded into darkness as she succumbed to unconsciousness.
As Lola drifted in and out of consciousness, she was plagued by vivid and haunting nightmares. The lines between reality and her subconscious mind blurred, immersing her in a terrifying realm of darkness and despair.
