Leo cautiously approached Lottie, his expression a mixture of concern and disappointment. As he stood before her, his gaze locked with Lottie’s, a silent exchange of emotions passed between them.
“Lottie,” Leo began, his voice tinged with a hint of reproach, “what have you done? You went against Edgar’s wishes and took matters into your own hands.”
Lottie lowered her gaze, a pang of guilt tugging at her heart. She had anticipated Leo’s disappointment, but she couldn’t shake the belief that she had done what was necessary to protect Lola. In a hushed tone, she responded, “Leo, I... I couldn’t stand by and watch Lola be consumed by Edgar’s obsession. I had to do something.”
Leo’s expression softened as he carefully chose his words, a mix of understanding and concern evident in his eyes. “Lottie, I know how you feel. I understand your fear for Lola’s well-being, but what you did was reckless. You put yourself in danger and risked everything.”
