Chapter 11
On the bed was Jo, shirtless and full of blood; the wound above his eye was dripping with blood, and some was dried up. He held a shot of whiskey clutched in his hand. His dark eyes clouded when he met hers.
“What now, Princess? You’re scared?” he looked up and gave a smirk, his eye twitched with the pain. He took another shot of his whiskey, stirring it with his hand.
Despite her fear, Chloe felt a surge of compassion inside her. With hesitant steps, she crossed the room to his side, her heart aching at the sight of him in distress. She knew he was in pain—that was a deep wound.
“Jo,” she whispered, her voice barely above a breath as she reached out to touch the open wound above his eye. “Are you okay?”
Jo’s gaze bore into hers, a mixture of vulnerability and possessiveness Took over. With a low growl, he pulled her closer, his grip firm yet gentle as he buried his face in her hair, inhaling her scent with a hunger that sent heat coursing through her veins.<
