Chapter 12
The morning was bright. Jo had woken up hearing how Minu was crying in Chloe’s closed room. As his eyes traced up to the woman in his bed, he realized this was a night he would remember. It was so peaceful that his sleep was uninterrupted, and he felt so good.
She was asleep, her breathing steady and calm. He was breathing with her.
He watched her, mesmerized by the way her chest rose and fell with each breath, her lashes casting between her hair that was hanging in her face, now this was a sight he could get use to every morning.
He shifted slightly, careful not to disturb her. He knew the cat would not stop crying until he would just crack the door open to let Minu run around the mansion.
He reached out to brush a lock of hair from Chloe’s face, his touch feather-light. He moved her hair past to fall down her cheek and her ear, a soft murmur escaping her lips as she nestled closer to him, seeking his warmth even in her sleep.
