Her throat tightened.
“Being near you calms me down,” he added. “It keeps me grounded. I’m uneasy when I’m not with you; and that’s before the bond even decides to tear me apart,” he added with a soft chuckle. “And if this counts; my wolf goes insane at the mere sight of you. Or even the smell of you.”
He looked at her then, eyes softening. Aria looked away, blinking fast and not letting his eyes hold hers. The truth was settling in her chest in a somewhat warm and terrifying moment altogether.
She loved him. She just hadn’t let herself say it yet, but she loved him. Her eyes got wet with tears and a drop fell to her thighs before she could stop it and Cole noticed.
“Are you okay?” He dropped the bag he carried and came to her but she stood up before he could hold her, drying her tears.
“Yeah,” She lied. “Wait for me, I’ll gather my things, I want to go back to Ironwood with you.” She walked past him hurriedly and he paused.
