Chapter 19. Freedom
“You’re burning up,” River added as he brushed my hair back again, gently snapping me back to reality as his palm landed on my forehead. “Are you alright?”
“I am,” I answered, my throat dry. “I think it’s just the medicine’s side effect. I always feel this way every time I drink it, but I’ll feel good afterward. It just takes some time.”
River frowned upon hearing my statement.
“Medicine?” He tilted his head in confusion. “What kind of medicine? Is it something you could buy in a store, or something that needed a doctor’s prescription?”
“The latter,” I told him. “I… I’m seeing a psychiatrist because of the thoughts I had at the back of my mind. My doctor said it’s anxiety, so he prescribed me those pills.”
I didn’t know why I was telling him everything. Even Mia doesn’t know about these things. But River? I can easily open up. I’m not even afraid that he will judge me, or that he will tattle that information to anyone.
He’s not that kind of person
