Noella’s POV
Seeing the intense atmosphere and how nervous they were, I cleared my throat and changed the topic.
“Let the winner take the prize home, then,” I said, swallowing hard because I knew my words were not genuine.
“Let’s go then,” Wolves suggested, stepping away from us. I turned to him.
“Are you ready?” My cheeks rose, creating a bright smile, and he retaliated even when I knew it was forced.
“Yes, I’m,” he said, nodding while arranging the arrows in the small packs.
“Make sure you win the prize.” I winked at him mischievously and stepped down from the higher platform; he joined me a few minutes later.
“Are we hunting for wolves or beasts?” This question unexpectedly escaped from my mouth.
“We are hunting for wolves!” Wolves said notwithstanding, holding a stern gaze.
“You don’t expect us to kill our people,” he said, his hoarse voice pervading seriousness.
