Valerie's POV

“Valerie wake up” A voice in my head urged, but as hard as I tried to, I couldn't lift my eyelids, they felt so heavy.

“Valerie, you have to try and wake up.”

The voice said again. My mind roamed for answers, why did it feel like I was lying on my side, where was I? and why did it hurt so much to move. Then the memories came rushing in, my search for Rendall, the man who stalked me, my back colliding with that brick wall and now this.

I slowly regained my consciousness, my environment becoming more familiar by each passing second. My body ached all over and my head felt like it was going to scatter. The coppery taste of blood filled my mouth as I tried to open my eyes. I thought I was in the afterlife but the sound of voices told me I was still on this pathetic earth.
