Chapter 19. Breakfast and the Rude Lady

The early morning sun was bright and warm, sending a golden glow through the windows and onto Calla’s face. She slowly opened her eyes, blinking twice, and turned on her back, staring at the oddly beautiful aesthetic ceiling.

She sighed and sat up, her eyes taking in Rico’s room for the first time.

Rico’s room was dark, commanding, and stripped of warmth—just like him. Deep gray walls, sharp lines, a scent of smoke and leather in the air. Nothing out of place.

Every furniture—his desks, long shelves, chairs—was heavy, sleek, and meant to intimidate. Like it was warning anyone who stepped inside here; you don’t belong here unless he says so.
