Chapter 44. She Knows Already

Ryder’s POV

I knew I would find the idiot here. I always knew that he is stubborn and sick in the head but a very good beating would correct all that nonsense. He froze, staring at me like a starving lizard. I took a step closer and I could see the confusion dancing in Lila’s eyes. I just hoped she didn’t believe a word he said.

“What were you telling her?” I asked in the softest voice I could manage because I knew he would see thousands of stars soon.

He put up a brave front and shrugged. “The truth.”

Lila froze, her eyes wide with pain, confusion and fear. Something inside me changed.
