Chapter 51. When The Sun Came Back
Ryder’s POV
It was... soft. The light, I mean. I squinted, tried to look away but it seemed to be everywhere.
Not the kind that yells at you to get up, move and get your ass up that it was another terrific day, it was just gentle. Like it was easing in, touching stuff like it didn’t wanna wake anyone. It was golden and slow as it poured from the curtains. The kind of morning where nothing’s in a rush.
And for a second—I didn’t know where the hell I was.
Then I felt her hand. Under mine. It was so warm.
Oh.
Right.
I’d fallen asleep sitting up again. My neck—god, ow. My back was doing that locked-up, angry thing and my whole body ached. But none of it mattered. Not even a little.
Because she was awake.
Lila.
Her eyes wide open and looking right at me,
like I was something worth seeing. Maybe I was. Maybe she was thinking about the mystery of the wolf thing, shifting and all or maybe she was thinking about….us?
