Chapter 54. Somewhere That Felt Like Us
Ryder’s POV
Okay, so. I didn’t actually leave.
I just wanted them to think I did. Let Aunt Helena and her whole court of darkness, whatever, let them think I stormed off and I’m stubborn. I knew that they would begin their silky judgement now. He chose love over legacy. All of them just won’t mind their business.
I just needed space. Not a fight, goodness, not another fight. I just wanted to wake up and find out that Salome had also stormed off to her pack then I would have peace like a river.
So I went to the one place in this whole stupid house where no one could ever find me. The attic room. The one right over the library. It was
my safe haven. No cameras, no staff breathing down my neck. Just these old wood floors, a beat-up couch, and this big skylight that, I swear, makes me feel like the moon is right there, actually listening to my crap.
I just laid there.
Closed my eyes.
And just thought about her.
